Updated on Jul 07, 2025
A subscription may enter a cancelled state for various reasons, such as non-payment. This guide will walk you through the steps to reactivate a cancelled subscription.
Navigate to Subscriptions: Select a cancelled subscription account.
Click on Reactivate: To reactivate the subscription from its cancelled state.
Set the Reactivate From Date:
This date must be from the past. For example, if a subscription was cancelled on Feb 10 and you're reactivating on Feb 20, set Reactivate From as Feb 15. The new billing term will run from Feb 15 to March 15.
If no date is mentioned, the date of reactivation will be taken by default.
Add a Trial Period (Optional): This delays activation and billing until the trial ends. The Reactivate From date marks the start of the trial.
Modify Renewal Options: Adjust the number of times the subscription should renew.
Invoicing Options: Convert when the invoice should be generated.
Finalize Reactivation: Click on Reactivate. You will receive an update that the subscription has been successfully reactivated, visible within the Active status.
The process of reactivation differs depending on when the subscription is cancelled. In ChargeBee, they are split into General and Interim reactivation.
Used to reactivate a subscription after the current billing term has ended.
If the Reactivation From date is not mentioned, it will assume the date to be the date on which you are reactivating the subscription.
Occurs when a subscription is cancelled due to non-payment and reactivated within its current billing term.
The billing cycle stays the same, and no new invoice is generated.
For other reactivations, a new invoice will be created.
Go to Settings and select Configure ChargeBee.
Select BillingLogIQ.
Under Customers and Subscriptions, select Subscription Reactivation.
Choose the Allow Reactivation option to permit Interim reactivation without payment collection of current term charges.
With Allow only on payment collection, Interim reactivation is allowed only if the current term charges are successfully collected. ChargeBee will attempt the payment once, and reactivation happens only if it succeeds.
If Overriding is allowed, you can reactivate the subscription even if payment collection fails by enabling the relevant option.
